Perth Cat Vets on Today Tonight

I have always had great respect for the Cat Haven and the amazing work they do for the unwanted and homeless cats of Perth. I have been a regular donator to the charity over the years, however when we were in the construction phase of building the Cat Hospital I decided I wanted to do more than just donate money. I reached out to the Cat Haven’s CEO Roz Robinson to see she was interested in the idea of the Cat Hospital providing a annual budget of pro-bono services for the care of sick cats in need. Within minutes of meeting Roz I could see we were on the same page with respect to our love and passion for the welfare of cats.

Soon after we opened our doors in February, Roz contacted me to see if we could help a very lovely girl named Cauliflower. Cauli had ongoing problems with infections in her ear canal so the point that it was so severely disease and narrowed that no drugs could penetrate it to treat the problem.  She needed a very delicate and fiddly surgery called a “TECALBO”, or total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy. For this surgery the entire ear canal is carefully dissected out to remove the source of pain and inflammation. The team at Perth Cat Hospital agreed to performed the surgery for Cauliflower pro-bono as part of our annual donation of our professional services for the Cat Haven.

Cauli was the purr-fect patient and the surgery was very successful. She woke up from her anaesthetic looking very comfortable and without any complications. Later in the evening, once Cauli was up and about and had eaten some dinner, Dr Martine transferred her over to Perth Vet Emergency who kindly offered to monitor her overnight at no charge.

Cauliflower has now found her forever home with a very loving family who appreciate her for the gorgeous, affectionate girl she is.

We would like to thank Roz Robinson and Chandra Woodley from the Cat Haven for giving us the opportunity to help Cauliflower, Sian Doherty and the team from Today Tonight, Melissa Worthington from Cork and Cheese Marketing and Drs Jared and Penny from PVE.

For those of you who missed the show on Friday, here it is again!
