About Dr Kim Binnie

Senior Associate Veterinary Surgeon BSc BVMS (hons) MANZCVS (Feline Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care) Fear Free Certified

Dr Kim graduated from Murdoch University in 2007, and spent the first 12 years of her career in Small Animal general practice in Perth, where she particularly enjoyed working with her feline patients, as well as managing Emergency cases. She was also fortunate enough to work in a behaviour focused practice where “fear free” and low stress handling were a priority, and is a Fear Free certified practitioner. She recently decided to focus more intensively on Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, and attained her Memberships with the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in 2019.

She has always had a love for cats, with her 2 special hand raised babies at home- Rupert, a 12yo DSH, and Superted an 8yo DSH. The opportunity to spend time at the Perth Cat Hospital is a lovely change from emergency work, being spoilt with all the gorgeous feline patients on every shift.  She particularly enjoys surgical cases, as well as internal medicine, and has a special interest in Diabetes having a diabetic cat herself (Rupert).

When she is not ‘vetting’ Dr Kim loves to scuba dive whenever she can, and also loves cooking, and baking sweet treats to keep her colleagues well fed 😉

Dr Kim Binnie has recently attained Membership with the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Emergency and Critical Care, and enjoys the rush of emergency practice. She however has a special soft spots for cats, and loves to spend time with the special felines at the Perth Cat Hospital to get her “kitty fix”. She particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery and feline medicine. She is owned by 2 felines , and has recently adopted a 3 legged pug!
